Kurunegala District is bounded on the North by Anuradhapura, East by Matale and Kandy,  South by Gampaha and Kegalle and West by Puttlam Districts. The District is situated in between North 228 - 333 and East 104 - 178 (In between North degree of Latitude 70 -160 and 80 - 120 East Longetude 790 - 550 and 800 - 550) Considering the geographical situation mostly has Lowland area with waves. They are Internal lowland areas. But mawathagama, Mallawapiiya, Ridigama and Ibbagamuwa Divisional Secretariats are high land areas. They are considered as Hill country Geographycal partitions.The highest point of the district is 4044 ft height ( Boundary of Kurunegala Matale District) The Lowast point is 32 ft height. No changes can be Seen in the Temprature of this District The minimum temprature is 27.20 and the maximum temprature is 29.7 0C. Slight increase of temrature can be seen during the Months of July and August.The Mid Year Rainfall of this District is 900 mm - 2200 mm. Main rainfall methods are North East Monsoon and South West monsoon and the maximum way is South West Monsoon.
