  This temple is located around 800 metres from the Arambepola Junction long the Kandy Road. This temple is believed to have been built by a regional ruler during the reign of King Parakramabahu, the 6th. Its architecture is similar to that of the Tampita Viharayas of the Kandy Era. It is also one of the temples that took part in the Aluth Sahal Mangalyaya (the offering of the maiden rice gathered fresh from the field) of the Dalada Maligawa. A stone siri pathula (sacred footprint) and two flower altars are also seen here, in addition to two statues of God Saman relating to the Alawatugoda Saman Devale.
