Travel from Kandy towards Gampola, pass Kahatapitiya Railway Crossing and proceed 200 meters. Turn left and proceed 100 meters further to reach this temple, Established in 1840.

The Vihara Mandiraya of this temple was built later in 1851. The Bo tree was planted in 1872. the then Chief Incumbent Naranwita Sumanasara Thero obtained 05 relics which were found during renovations of Ruwanweli Seya, deposited the relics in this temple and built a Chaitya here.
