The mountain top is almost always covered by mist and that adds scenic views to the surrounding regions. The Knuckles Range, Victoria Reservoir, Hantana Mountain Range, Bible Mountain, Matale Mountain as well as vast paddy fields could be observed from this mountain top.

In addition, a number of scenic streams coming from this mountain top enhance the climatic uniqueness in this region.

There is also folklore as well as historic stories in addition to the mountain’s environmental beauty. It is said that Lord Buddha, before he placed his footprint on Sri Pada, had visited Hunnasgiriya Mountain on an invitation from the Deity Bandara. However, he had not been able to place his footprint on Hunnasgiriya Mountain due to certain drawbacks.
It is also said that the mountain range had been used as a refuge whenever there were clashes involving Sinhala kings.
