In 1935 the village folk had built a room for a monk called Sujanatissa Thero, who in turn had begun the Junior School from 01 May 1935. He was succeeded by Beddegama Gunananda Thero, who later built the present day temple, with the help of the villagers through the Siddharthaloka Kulangana Samithiya and the Nethra Mangallaya was performed in 1954. The temple edifice is splendidly built in granite.
